OBJECTIVES
Implementation of the campaign : "I love you Positive or Negative"
in a HIV/AIDS policy for Africa-based companies.
DESCRIPTION
HIV/AIDS
is a growing issue for companies implemented in highly affected regions,
such as Africa.
Leave days due to opportunistic diseases, funerals of relatives, psychological
weaknesses, loss of motivation...Daily, the virus affects employees of
these compagnies, and therefore, their business activity and profitability.
On the other hand, many employees are too afraid to loose their position
when disclosing their status and are tempted to hide any sign of weakness
in order not to raise any suspicion, which worsens their health.
APPROACH
Many companies have hopefully understood the emergency of the situation,
and started developping HIV policy in theirs branches in in Africa. Designing
Hope wants to support these compagnies and also smaller structures, focusing
on HIV/AIDS related stigmas
in professional environments, which is the key of succes for implementing
any HIV/AIDS campaign.
Designing Hope believes that the strenght and simplicity of the campaign
message :"I
love you Positive or Negative" can
help break the stigma, bring trust and confidence between colleagues and
among the staff.
TOOLS AVAILABLE
Designing Hope benefits from the following assets to build this campaign:
- 35 artworks interpreting the campaign message, have been collected from
international contemporary artists ("Artists4life"
project).
- This collection has been enriched with new artworks created by african
artists (Swaziland, South Africa and Mozambique)
- 23 written and video messages supporting the campaign, from charismatic
African personalities from TV music and
sports.
> DIVERSITY
African and European designers are busy adapting these tools for the conception
of posters, flyers, condom packs in French, English and Portuguese. Diversity
of visuals and messages can target various audiences (men, women, youngters...)
depending on the specificity of human ressources of the company.

> PACKAGE
Designing Hope came with the concept of packages including posters, flyers,
and boxes of condoms for free distribution.
It includes:
- 1 box of 300 condoms, covered with designs, messages and logos of the
campaign, (see detail on the "Condom distribution")
- 1 A2 poster (can be chosen)
- 5 A3 posters (one of each available per language)
- 20 flyers (5 of each available per language)
This package helps spreading the message:
- All elements are reproducing the same artworks and messages.
- Packages can be sent regularly, ensuring the availability of condoms
and awareness materials.
- They show an involvment of the management to support its staff members.
> SPECIFICITY
The selection of tools can be personalised and enriched by artworks created
especially for a company.
A collective workshop, run by the NGO together with artists involved in
the project can be organized in the company premises with the employees.
The collective artwork can be permanently exhibited in the premises, symbolizing
the unity of the employees fighting discrimination among themselves.
It could also be reproduced on leaflets, posters and condom packs.
BUDGET
The
financing of this project and its development will depend on the
private sponsoring and especially Designing Hope consortium
of sponsor companies invited to support and benefit from the campaign.
