it will put the stress on the vitale importance of using condoms for safe sexual intercourses.
Boxes of condoms carrying all designs from the artists will be sold in Europe, with a donation to fund the free distribution in Africa with support of local authorities.

In Africa

FIRST APPROACH

In 2005, 20 000 condoms have been donated by French stylist Agnes b. to Dessine l'Espoir, packed in a very attractive box carrying the campaign message. Designing Hope distributed them in Swaziland and South Africa and could see the impact of an attractive packaging on the distribution.

CONDOM PACKS REFLECTING THE CAMPAIGN MESSAGES AND ARTWORKS

Desiging Hope and Dessine l'Espoir wish to develop this condom project, in association with local authorities.
At present, free condoms are distributed buy the Ministry of Health, nut they are packed in anonymous boxes left on the side of counters in some, administrative buildings, and in some testing centers and hospital building.

Original packaging can change the gesture of taking a condom in a public place. Anyone can pretend he takes one to see or collect nice boxes, rather than taking a couple of condoms home...

10 condom boxes have already been designed:

These condoms will be packed by 300 in the following boxes:

Poster will also be printed, reproducing the artwork and messages from the campaign:

AN INCOME GENERATING ACTIVITY

Designing Hope and Dessine l'Espoir will develop this project as a new income generating activity within support groups in South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland.

Support group members will be paid to repack condoms into original packaging carrying artwork, awareness messages, and famous signatures of the campaign messagers. This activity is ideal for support groups as it is simple to implement, and an easy task for patients who can be very tired sometimes.

Artistic group activities and counselling explaining the campaign will be associated to these workshop so that the people involved understand fully the message and feel they are part of a valuable action.
Embroidery, painting, writting cessions will be a way to get these volunteers express their vision of the message and of the artwork.

This campaign benefits from the constent interaction between local projects, small groups of people affected by HIV and AIDS within hospitals or communities and a professional communication plan targetting millions of people.

Women have embroided their interpretation of the campaign on reproductions of the artworks mounted on canvas.
