ARTISTS4LIFE
After
involving 30 renowned international artists around the campaign fighting
stigma and discrmination towards people affected by HIV and AIDS : "I
love You Positive or Negative", Designing Hope develops similar concepts
in Southern african countries, starting with Mozambique, South Africa
and Swaziland.
CONCEPT
An exhibition will gather artworks from 20 artists in Maputo, at the Franco-Mozambican
Cultural Centre, while a similar initiative will be organised at the Alliance
Francaise of Johannesburg. At the same time, a competition will be organised
in Swaziland with the support of the National Youth Council, inviting
youngters to interpret the message.
IN MOZAMBIQUE
In Mozambique, 24 young artists and
art schools students have participated in a competition organised by the
Franco-Mozambican Cultural CentreCentre Culturel of Maputo.
Their assignment was the creation of an artwork interpreting the message
:
"I Love you positive or Negative".
Last 21th October 2006, a jury o has selected artworks
to be used for a special campaign for Mozambique.
Jury members : Julieta Macimbe, director of the Museum of National Art of Maputo, Victor Sala, director of the National School of Visual Arts ofMaputo, Jorge Dias, journaliste at "Meia Noite", Anesia Manjate, artists from "Muvart" group of artists and Cyrille Varet, president of Dessine l'Espoir.

DESIGNING HOPE and UNESCO organise an itinerant exhibition gathering all
these artworks.
The artworks from André
Macie, Danilso Almeida Cumbane, and Octávio Bento Mondlane will
join this exhibition.

- PREVENTION
CAMPAIGN
These
artworks, associated with support messages translated in portugese will
be reproduced on posters, and condom packs, to give more impact at a local
level.
The
idea consist in packing free
condoms within support groups where this activity can be proposed.
An original packaging caan change the gesture, and the perception by others.
